Isabella Boccia Gomes de Moraes

Who inspires you and why?: My father. He was always my main supporter in soccer and my best friend. He was the one who took me to watch my first soccer game and made me fall in love with the game.

Favorite soccer memory?: Having an assist in my conference final and going to Nationals with my team.

Why did you choose Sioux Falls City FC?: I heard of Sioux Falls because a friend of mine played there before and seemed like she had a great time there. But, I also decided to play for Sioux after the meeting I had with Joe, I felt very comfortable the entire time I was talking to him, and it seemed that he really cared about what he was doing, and the way he talked nonstop about soccer with such a passion, made me want to commit right after the call.

I found out in 2018 that I could play soccer at a high level in America while getting my degree at the same time. So, I started working on it and in 2019 I went to a college in New Jersey with some scholarship, then Covid hit and I had to go back to Brazil and almost gave up on college soccer. But, eventually I pushed through it and signed a full ride scholarship and fortunately, thanks to God and to my family and friends who helped me through the process, 5 years later I am graduating and getting my diploma. My goal is to play professionally, and then become a coach so I get to change people’s lives through soccer. In the meantime I also intend to become an agent and help girls from Brazil who have a low income and no opportunity of getting a higher education, to come to America on a soccer scholarship.
