Colette Montgomery
Biography
Colette Montgomery enters her first season with Sioux Falls City FC and currently serves as the club’s Director of Player Recruitment and Retention. In this role, she supports the club’s player identification, evaluation, and recruitment efforts while working closely with the Sporting Director and technical staff to build a competitive environment that aligns with the club’s culture and long-term vision.
Montgomery brings more than two decades of leadership experience across youth, high school, collegiate, and pre-professional soccer. She has held executive and coaching positions throughout the Midwest, including serving as Sporting Director and Head Coach of MN Aurora FC, where she led the club’s sporting department, oversaw first and second team operations, and helped launch player development initiatives, camps, and identification programs.
Prior to Aurora, Montgomery spent six years at North Central University, serving as Head Women’s Soccer Coach, Head Men’s Soccer Coach, and Manager of Soccer. During her tenure, she led programs comprising more than 50 student-athletes while overseeing recruitment, player development, staff leadership, and program operations.
A respected leader in youth soccer, Montgomery spent nearly two decades with Edina Soccer Club and Edina Soccer Association, progressing from Assistant Director of Coaching to Director of Coaching. She helped guide one of Minnesota’s largest soccer communities, overseeing coaching staff development, player pathways, organizational strategy, and community partnerships while mentoring coaches and leaders throughout the region.
Montgomery serves as a U.S. Soccer Coach Educator for Grassroots and D License courses, delivering educational programming and mentoring hundreds of coaches annually. She currently serves as Coach Education Lead for Twin Cities Soccer Leagues, where she oversees coach development initiatives and supports coaching pathways from the grassroots through advanced licensing levels.
In addition to her coaching and administrative work, Montgomery has served on the U.S. Club Soccer Board of Directors since 2018.
Montgomery holds U.S. Soccer Coach Educator credentials, the U.S. Soccer B License, National Youth License, and multiple advanced diplomas through United Soccer Coaches, including the Premier Diploma and Director of Coaching Diploma.
She remains passionate about developing players, coaches, and leaders while helping create environments where people can thrive both on and off the field.
